This just in from MoveOn. They are mobilizing phone call efforst into "Duke" Cunningham's CA District 50 before a special election there. If you have spare campaign time (I know everyone is busy with the School Board and Council elections) ya might comne to the orgainizing meeting for this MoveOn effort this Sunday, April 2nd.
On April 11th, we have an opportunity to elect a real progressive to Congress, and to test out many of the techniques we'll use to win back the House in November. We need your help to do it.

There's a special election in California congressional district 50 where the incumbent Republican resigned for taking bribes. Between now and the election, we're organizing a massive nation-wide phonebanking effort to convert the clout of 3 million MoveOn members into additional progressive votes on the ground. And we're holding an urgent meeting Sunday at 4pm to kick off this 9 day sprint in your area. Here's the info:

The new Missourians for Safe Energy group, a Peaceworks educational project, is in the early stages of being organized. If you'd like to get involved, we would welcome your active participation.

While perhaps this hasn't yet gotten onto your radar, AmerenUE is currently considering building a new nuclear power plant here in mid-Missouri. Should you be concerned about the prospects of a new nuclear power plant in Callaway County? Think that perhaps you should learn more about the hazards of long-lived nuclear waste, the dangers of accidents, or the costs of this controversial technology? Maybe you want to do something to oppose this misguided project and instead to promote a sustainable path focused on energy efficiency and the use of renewable sources like wind and solar?

This from Peg...
A candidate forum will be held on THURSDAY, April 20 at 6 pm in ARTS & SCIENCE 113.
All candidates from local to national have been invited. So far Duane Burghard, Skip Elkin, and Susan Montee have confirmed. We will present our list of issues to the candidates at this meeting and ask them for their stance on the issue. This is an excellent opportunity to make the candidates pay attention to their younger constituents. Make the democracy work for you.
